Deliberate Deceptions by Leah Braemel
A little lying and misdirection in the name of love is never wrong. Right?
Hauberk Protection, Book 3
Chad Miller once had the perfect life—a beautiful baby daughter, a loving wife, a promising career with the FBI. Within a year, he’d lost everything. Making Hauberk Protection a success salvaged his career, but he’s never managed to get over the one fateful decision that spelled the end of his marriage. And the death of his child.
For eight years, grief and guilt have haunted Lauren Miller’s climb up the ranks of the Light Brigade, a secret international hostage rescue team. Now she’s the target of a vengeful ex-Brigade operative who’ll stop at nothing to take her down. Even if it means taking out everyone she cares about. Including Chad. Getting him to accept her as his bodyguard? It’ll take some fast talking—and faster hands.
Trapped in a remote safe house with Lauren is the last place Chad ever wanted to be. He may finally have the chance to get some answers about why she ran, but with his hard-won defenses crumbling, he’s having trouble remembering the questions. In the heat of their rekindled passion, Lauren struggles to keep her professional focus…and keep the secrets that could break his heart all over again.

Angst dead-ahead! Lost love. Angst. Reunited lovers. Angst. Sex. More angst. And did I mention the angst? A box of tissues is definitely needed. But don’t worry, there’s still a Happy-Ever-After.

Lauren stepped from the Brigade’s jet onto the tarmac, glad to be standing on firm earth after being in the air for almost ten hours. The smog-shrouded Washington Monument across the Potomac drew her attention, a calming beacon saluting her return. Would its people be as welcoming?
A sleek, black stretch Humvee limo sat with its engine running less than thirty feet away. The driver got out, his windbreaker unbuttoned to allow easy access to the weapon he always wore. After a quick check of the area, he opened the back door, allowing the devil himself to step out.
Cooper Davis straightened his French cuffs and smoothed his perfectly pressed Armani suit before nodding to his driver. Anyone meeting him for the first time might buy his cover as an unassuming businessman, intent only on making a killing on Wall Street; she knew better. He strolled across the pavement with confidence and nonchalance, as if he were about to greet an old lover. Something he’d once suggested. To this day she hadn’t decided if it had been a test or a sincere proposition.
She turned her face when he bent down to kiss her so his lips brushed her cheek. One dark eyebrow quirked up at her evasion. “Welcome back, Lauren.”
“I’m done, Cooper. I want out.” Saying the words both soothed the jumbled thoughts in her brain while setting free the butterflies in her stomach.
“I figured you’d say that.” He gestured toward the Humvee. “Let’s sit inside while we discuss your future, shall we?”
She followed him to the Humvee, taking a seat facing him so she could read his facial expressions. As soon as the door closed behind them, sealing them into Cooper’s bulletproof, soundproof world, he leaned forward. “There’s a problem you should know about before you start planning on retiring.”
Problem to Cooper could mean anything from a paperwork snafu to the start of the next world war. From the way every cell in her body went on alert, it was probably more the latter than the former. “I was right, wasn’t I? Someone in the Brigade was behind those attacks.”
“Yes.” He stared out the window, his eyes narrowed. “Frank Harris.”
She sucked in her breath. Of all the Brigade’s operatives, Harris was both their best marksman and their best tracker. He was also currently the most unstable.
“From what we can gather, he discovered it was you who filed the complaint. He’s declared war on you, Lauren.”
“I need to leave then. Find a bolt hole. New York. L.A. San Francisco. Somewhere I can get lost in a crowd.”
Cooper nodded slowly. “It might work. But it’s also possible that Harris will try to get at you through people you care about, Lauren. What’ll you do then?”
People she cared about? She’d long been estranged from her only sister and her mother had died a decade ago. Which left… “Chad?”
“It’s a distinct possibility.”
No. It couldn’t be. Hadn’t she screwed up Chad’s life enough without making him the target of a vengeful ex-CIA operative? “But we’re divorced. We’ve been divorced for almost seven years now.”
“Harris was there when you and Thalia had that blow-up a couple months ago. He knows you didn’t want the divorce, and he knows you still love Chad. It’s possible he’ll use Chad as a way to control you or hurt you.”
“I never said I love Chad.” She’d never admitted it in words but… She thought back, desperate to remember exactly what had been said that day. Was the fight itself enough to tell Harris—and everyone else who’d overheard—how she felt?
“Maybe not in so many words that day, but you did discuss it with Doc Brewer at your last assessment, didn’t you?”
“Those files are private.” Her eyes widened at his implication. “Harris read them?”
He nodded. “We just discovered someone accessed them last month. We can only assume it was Harris.”
“You’ve read them too,” she whispered.
“I’m in charge of the unit, Lauren. I read everyone’s reports. But I didn’t need a report to tell me you still had strong feelings for Chad.” He chuckled darkly. “Luckily for you, the way you insisted on not being stationed back here in the States led everyone else to assume it was out of hatred for Chad, not love.”
“I didn’t want to come back because I wanted to avoid Thalia.” Not to mention avoiding the park where she used to take Emily for walks. The hospital where she was born. The Mall where Chad had proposed on the steps of the Lincoln Monument. The condo they had worked so hard to buy that had later become their prison thanks to the media frenzy after Chad had defied Bureau protocol.
“I didn’t know what Thalia had done until you two had that fight, Lauren,” Cooper said quietly. “If I had, I would have said something sooner.”
“Do you know what she did?” She blew out her breath in a slow stream, forcing her shoulders down.
“I know that she was the one who recommended you to Sir Ian when he was running the Brigade and arranged for you to stay out of the country. And I know she hired the solicitor in London so it would look to Chad as if you were seeking the divorce, not him.” He tilted his head as he observed her. “Am I right in assuming she’s the one who recommended you stay at Tranquil Pastures?”
“Yes. Damn it, I should have flown back here and talked to him face-to-face instead of believing her or that damned lawyer. I had no idea she hated me that much.”
“It’s not that she hated you, it’s that she loves her brother over everything else. And why wouldn’t you believe her? What reason would you have had to suspect she was lying when she told you Chad was with someone else, that they were living together?”
Not to mention how he’d never replied to any of the letters she’d sent him that first year or the ones from Dr. Maudsley either. Had Thalia found some way to prevent Chad from getting them? Did it matter anymore?
She closed her eyes in an effort to calm the maelstrom raging inside. At her anger at Thalia for interfering. Her disgust at not discovering the deception for all these years burned with glowing embers of long-simmering resentment. Her rage against Harris burned brightly, its flames licking hungrily at her patience
“Maybe she wasn’t lying. Maybe she just saw the inevitable. We were already in counseling. Neither of us handled Emily’s death well. With Chad facing the inquiry and all that press…he was better off without having me distracting him.” She settled back in her seat.
She’d mourned the loss of her marriage as much as she’d mourned her daughter.
“So you’re not interested in resolving any issues between you and Chad? Seeing if there’s still a chance of having a relationship with him?”
God, don’t give her hope. It would only be torn from her the way it had been before. She couldn’t take losing Chad again. “Just how would we do that after all this time?”
Cooper laid out his plans quickly and succinctly, hope rising in her soul with each step he revealed. The hopes mingled with the thought that he was crazy. Or brilliant. Maybe both. His plan would keep her safe, as well as Chad. Plus, it would let her finally see Chad again, to find out if he hated her for being so weak that she’d walked away when he’d needed her most. No, not walked. She’d run away with her tail tucked between her legs. Cooper was right—she needed to see Chad face-to-face one last time. If for no other reason, to apologize. And explain.
Icy fingers of fear doused the flames. What if Cooper’s plan didn’t work?
Review -
One quick decision, a family tragedy, a nosy sister, and a twist (can't tell you) makes Deliberate Deceptions an amazing addition to the Hauberk Protection series! Thank you for giving Chad and Lauren another chance. This story is so full of angst my heart was hurting for them both. Chad has been assigned to guard his ex-wife Lauren and she is keeping secrets. He's not sure he can do this there is too much of a past between them and it still hurts to see her. He quickly realizes he still has feelings but something is off. What is it? Lauren still loves Chad as well but there are secrets she can't tell him. Can this still work? Secrets get revealed, truths come out, and healing can begin.
GREAT LOVE STORY - I cried. Great sex and lots of emotion, what more can you ask for.

Present day, San Francisco. For the sake of vampire twins Marc and Julie Fischer, Conrad and Damian present a united parental front. In reality, their truce is a sham. Conrad, weakened by his recent ordeal, struggles against the urge to bring his mate back to his bed. And Damian misinterprets Conrad’s explosive temper as proof their relationship is irreparably broken.
When an old enemy’s quest to create a dangerous new breed of vampire threatens the twins’ lives—and the precarious state of vampire peace—it’s imperative the estranged lovers put the past behind them. Or the shadows of the past will tear apart everything they hold dear.
Product Warnings
This book may not be suitable for readers with an aversion to emotionally damaged vampire heroes. Caution is advised if you have experienced prior sensitivity to any of the following: costume parties, fencing lessons, interspecies, inter-generational or intra-gender dating, occasional mild violence, and/or recreational blood-drinking.RAPTURED???
Campings worldwide $100-million campaign of caravans and billboards had his followers selling off their belongings and ready to be raptured, yeah they'll be waiting awhile. Camping made this same perdition back in 1994 and his excuse then was he miscalculated the math. Wonder what it will be this time.
While there was no "rapture" there were a couple earthquakes that happened. New Zealand had a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck near a group of South Pacific islands and oddily enough A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck Contra Costa County at 7:04 pm. This quake could be felt 13 miles away in Oakland, where Camping's Family Radio's headquarters are. Harold Camping, predicted the end of the world would be Saturday May 21, 2011 starting with a series of earthquakes from New Zealand to the Bay Area.
What did you do for "Rapture" Day? Did you go to or host a "Rapture" party? Did you enjoy some special time with loved ones? Or did you just go about your day like any other day?

Decadent Publishing Princesses Gone Wild
Sahara Kelly & S.L. Carpenter “Picture a coffee klatch of fairytale princesses sitting around on a slow afternoon, discussing what really happens in that period euphemistically referred to as “happily ever after.” In PRINCESSES GONE WILD, SL Carpenter and Sahara Kelly take some well-loved and familiar tales and retell them with the most convoluted, sexually warped spin imaginable...actually, it’s not even close to imaginable. In fact, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one. Imagine taking the known and familiar, adding a cup of warped, a few tablespoons of bizarre and a pinch of kink, preparing with a lot of heat and serving with laughter.

ABC News = What Would You Do?
This scenario has a pregnant female meeting a couple in a public restaurant to show them sonogram pictures of there soon to be baby. She then proceeds to tell them she needs $3000.00, they give her the money and leave. A short while later another couples shows and the same performance takes place, with the exception of the pregnant women excusing herself to use the bathroom.
Now the question purpose to you is, if you are witness to this would you tell the couple what you have witnessed???
For me = I would stand up and scream it!! I cried watching part cause I know the hardship people feel to even get to that point, let alone being conned.
The next scene is in 2 parts -
1st - If a 15 yr. old boy approached you in a drugstore and asked you to buy him condoms (because his mom and pharmacist were friends), would you do it?
For me = I would do it. I feel even if his mom didn't know the pharmacists, I would do it for him because it's the point of him taking the steps to get the protection. Now that's not to say he wouldn't get a lecture along with it. As well as the number to the local clinic!
2nd = If a 15 yr. old girl approached you in a drug store and told you she had unprotected sex and needs to get a Plan B pill but because her mom and pharmacist are friends she is afraid to do it. Would you get it for her?
For me = This is hard for me. My mom was a teenage parent and made the decision to keep me, but that' not right for everyone. People and kids make mistakes, should a child have to pay for that? NO! It would be hard but I would do it and again she would be getting a lecture and the number to the local clinic.
This is a great show that ABC has developed it really makes you want to stand up for other people and yourself and do something, say something, or help in anyway.
It also shows you how many people "don't want to get involved". The amount of people that feel this way is staggering! We need to look out for one another. There are way to many scammers, abusers, and nasty people out there not too. So be pro-active and beware of what's going on around you.
Go check it out!!

Happy Mother's Day!
Some other Mother's Day Quotes & Poems:Mom, I loved you yesterday, I love you tomorrow and everyday.
You were there for me my first day of school, to hold my hand and give me courage to go.
You listened to me when I needed to talk, you talked to me when I needed to listen.
You let me grow and learn from my own mistakes.
You never left my side when I was feeling down, I knew you would be there to pick me up.
I wish there was a way I could repay all the things you have done for me, but there's nothing great enough to repay the greatest mother of all.
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving
All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his. ~Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest, 1895

When weres from a rival pack attack her, Lark screams out the first name that comes to mind—Taran. Only this sexy alpha can keep her safe until they find out who wants her dead, and why. But keeping her safe means keeping her close. And the closer they get, the harder it gets for these not-really-cousins to honor their commitment to keep their paws off.
Product Warnings
Contains a heroine with the world’s worst poker face, a hero with more honor than sense, and explicit shifter sex that makes you wish werewolves really were part of the gene pool.
REVIEW :
I read mixed reviews on Kiss and Kin But I love Kinsey W. Holley so I decided I need to make my own opinion and I'm very happy I did :)In this novella Bk. 1 of Werewolves in Love Series she introduces us to Taran and Lark (gotta love the names) who by chance happen to be cousins through marriage not blood. Both these tortured individuals happen to be in love with each other but don't know what to do about for several reasons. I love the Taboo story line :)
Lark gets herself into a bad position,GHB and an attempt on her life. When Taran comes to the rescue things progress and wow do they!
When you read this story you feel intensity of their feelings towards each other and the struggle they both go through.
I love how Kinsey portrays Lark, she is a strong character but falls apart when unsure of herself and Taran. This made her more real to me. And Taran WOW! a patient caring Alpha in cowboy boots :) Yummy.
Can't wait to find out what happens next in Yours, Mine, and Howls.
Check it out!! Kinsey W. Holley writes - hot, sexy, and shifter if you like that, you'll love this. xoxo
You can get Kinsey W. Holley's books @ Samhain, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Fictionwise, & Books on Board.

Sierra Dean- Something Secret This Way Comes
Something Secret This Way Comes
Secret McQueen, Book 1
May 10, 2011
Some secrets are dangerous. This Secret is deadly.
For Secret McQueen, her life feels like the punch line for a terrible joke. Abandoned at birth by her werewolf mother, hired as a teen by the vampire council of New York City to kill rogues, Secret is a part of both worlds, but belongs to neither. At twenty-two, she has carved out as close to a normal life as a bounty hunter can.
When an enemy from her past returns with her death on his mind, she is forced to call on every ounce of her mixed heritage to save herself—and everyone else in the city she calls home. As if the fate of the world wasn’t enough to deal with, there’s Lucas Rain, King of the East coast werewolves, who seems to believe he and Secret are fated to be together. Too bad Secret also feels a connection with Desmond, Lucas’s second-in-command…
Warning: This book contains a sarcastic, kick-ass bounty hunter; a metaphysical love triangle with two sexy werewolves; a demanding vampire council; and a spicy seasoning of sex and violence.
You can pick her books up at Amazon, Samhain, and B&N
Now a little more about Sierra Dean:
Ever since she was a young girl she has loved the idea of the supernatural coexisting with the mundane. As an adult, however, the idea evolved from the notion of fairies in flower beds, to imagining that the rugged-looking guy at the garage might secretly be a werewolf. She has used her overactive imagination to create her own version of the world, where vampire, werewolves, fairies, gods and monsters all walk among us, and she’ll continue to travel as much as possible until she finds it for real.

ANYTHING YOU WANT
Suppose the solution to all your problems is the one thing you never wanted…
It figures the one time Sabrina Cassidy is determined to do the responsible thing, karma kicks in. After four years on the road chasing her musical dream, she's stranded six hours from home with no money, a ruined credit history—and morning sickness.
Out of options, she swallows her legendary independent streak and calls the only person who won't hang up on her. Luke, the man she left behind.
Marc Sterling's first instinct is to protect his business partner and best friend from another broken heart. That means letting her think she's talking to Luke, then finding a way to send her in the opposite direction.
When he shows up at her hotel room, there's something in the air beside their customary insults. Sure, her rebellious attitude, smart mouth—and purple panties—still drive him crazy, but now it's a different kind of crazy. The kind that has him driving her home instead of to the nearest airport.
And when Luke offers to solve all her problems if she'll only say "I do", Marc realizes he's just crazy enough—about her—to forget whose heart he wanted to protect.
Warning: Contains two people who don't like each other very much, a Toyota that can't quite handle the road trip home, and a spontaneous proposal. Or two. Or three. And foreplay with—what else—pie filling.

Sabrina couldn't describe exactly how she was feeling.
She always felt energized after performing, but tonight it was different. The hum in her veins didn't dissipate once she was off stage. In fact, it seemed to grow stronger as she'd searched for and finally found Marc.
Maybe the problem was that she'd felt his eyes on her the entire time she was performing. Maybe it was that she'd seen him ask three different women, who were quite clearly wallflowers, to dance. He hadn't gone for the flashy, flirty ones. He'd asked the ones who were sitting and hadn't been dancing. They'd all said yes. With big smiles. Maybe it was that—how happy he made them, how sweet that was, how he'd smiled and held them and twirled them.
But he'd still kept his eyes on her throughout her performance. And she'd loved it. She almost never noticed specific people in the crowd, but it seemed that she couldn't avoid watching Marc.
They hadn't touched. She resisted the urge to touch his arm or even brush against him. It was like she wound so tight that one touch would release…something. She was too afraid to find out what it was.
Or was she?
She snuck a glance at him as he drove. He was chomping on a piece of gum and staring, almost angrily, out the windshield.
He was good—looking. That wasn't exactly a revelation. She'd known Marc for years and it was an established fact that he was a good—looking guy. But she'd never been attracted.
Or had she?
These questions were driving her crazy. She'd never felt this chemistry, never thought about kissing him, never wanted to kiss him—or anything else.
And now that she was thinking about it, she couldn't stop thinking about it.
"Knock it off," he growled, not looking at her.
"What?"
"You're staring at me."
"I was thinking."
He cleared his throat. "About what?"
"Why do you think there's sexual tension between us now when there hasn't been before?"
He looked at her quickly, then back to the road. "Just put that right out there why don't you?"
She'd gotten used to being bold growing up. Being direct and specific about what she wanted and needed and was thinking was necessary to be sure her dad heard her. When she left home, she'd learned that being vague got vague results. Bold and fearless. That's what got ahead in the world.
And he wasn't denying the tension.
"Is there a reason we shouldn't talk about it?"
"It's awkward, don't you think?" he asked, staring resolutely at the road in front of the car.
"It's awkward whether we talk about it or not."
"It's easier to ignore when we don't talk about it."
He had a point. On the other hand, ignoring things rarely made them better. "Why ignore it?"
"How many reasons do you want?"
"Four."
"One, Luke. Two, we don't like each other. Three, you're leaving in the morning never to return. Four, Luke."
That had been pretty easy for him. She frowned. "One, sexual tension between us has nothing to do with Luke. Two, as you said earlier, you don't have to like me to want to see me naked. Three is negotiable. Four, you don't want me to be involved with Luke anyway so I would think my being attracted to someone else would be a good thing."
He scowled at her. "One, sexual tension between us would upset Luke—to say the least. Two, wanting to see you naked and seeing you naked are different things. Three is not negotiable. Four, why can't you be attracted to someone who lives in Dublin or something? Why me?"
She laughed. She couldn't help it. "Dublin? Ireland? Why there?"
"It's far away."
"Ah. And why you? Hell if I know. I'm as surprised as you are."
He pulled into a motel parking lot. "It's probably hero worship."
She looked at him, waiting for the punch line. He parked the car and turned off the ignition then moved to open the door. "What's probably hero worship?"
"How you're feeling about me."
She snorted. "There are two words wrong with that. Hero and worship. You've been anything but a hero to me for as long as I've known you and I think you need to look up the definition of worship if you think that's how I feel."
He turned in his seat to face her, pinning her with a direct stare. "I haven't been a hero to you? You're in Laramie, Wyoming rather than Soggy Swamp. Who did that?"
"You brought me here to put me on a plane."
"I could have left you alongside the road."
"You came to save Luke, not me."
"I bought you dinner."
"I'm paying you back."
"You know, Seattle, you could be a little grateful."
She sat looking at him. This was Marc Sterling. He thought she was selfish and self—centered. And she'd often wondered if he was right. Like she wondered if Luke and her father were right about the fact that she couldn't make a good decision until she'd tried all the bad ones.
"You're right," she finally said softly. "I should be grateful. You came to get me when there was no one else."
Obviously her acquiescence surprised him.
"That's better."
He started to move to open the door again, but she put her hand on his arm. He froze.
"No, really, Marc. Thank you. You saved me. If you hadn't come I'd… Well, I don't know what I would have done." The reality of that hit her and she had to swallow past a thickness in her throat. "I was out of options."
The muscles in his arm under her hand bunched.
"Luke or Kat would have come eventually if I hadn't."
"But you did."
"I couldn't have just left you there."
"Because you're a good guy. We haven't always been the best of friends, but you still helped me out and I won't forget that. Maybe we can…"
He was watching her closely. "We can what?"
For some reason it felt like the temperature in the car went up a few degrees. "Be friends?" she asked.
He didn't say anything for a long moment. He seemed to be studying her for something. Then he drawled, "Being sweet and agreeable isn't going to keep me from driving you to the airport tomorrow morning, Seattle."
It was strange. He kept calling her Seattle and she liked it. Not because she loved Seattle. She did, but there had been some not so great times there too. But because it felt—intimate. No one else called her that.
Being intimate with Marc was a bad—tempting, but bad—idea.
Then she remembered the rest of his words. "I'm not being agreeable to win you over."
"Talking about having sex with me isn't going to win me over either."
Sabrina glared at him. "I wasn't talking about having sex with you. But," she said as a thought hit her and adrenaline surged, "if I did have sex with you, it would make you want to do anything I want for the rest of your life."
She wasn't sure where the bravado came from. She knew for a fact that having sex with her didn't exactly make men fall at her feet. Maybe Luke, but he'd been—she could admit it—pretty much at her feet already. And she hadn't hung around for long after to see how it went. Paul had high—tailed it in the other direction, in fact. Maybe not because of the sex, but that certainly hadn't slowed his departure. Still, there was—and always had been—something about Marc that made her want to push him, no matter how dumb that was.
Marc leaned in and his voice dropped low. "Having sex with you would be a diversion while I'm far from home and on edge. Trust me when I say that I'm not worried about the rest of my life."
She leaned in too and narrowed her eyes, in spite of the fact that her stomach flipped simply in response to his husky voice. The sexual chemistry between them was not one—sided and while she doubted there would be worshipping from either of them, she wasn't going to let him be quite that nonchalant.
"I don't think it's sudden hero worship," she said.
He seemed to lean closer. "You been harboring secret desires for me for years? You should have said something."
"Why?"
"I could have helped you out. Then you could have left Luke alone."
"I did leave Luke alone. Like a few thousand miles and four years alone."
"Not soon enough." Marc's jaw tightened, but then he paused and visibly relaxed. "But if you and I were getting it on, Luke would have been pissed off enough to stay away from you."
She'd been a virgin until she was twenty and she'd had no sexual feelings for Marc that she remembered, but now thinking about having sweaty, new, teenage sex with him on a blanket by the river or in the backseat of his car made her thighs clench and rush of heat flow from head to toe.
"You would have risked pissing Luke off that way?"
Marc's gaze flickered to her mouth, then slid lower, over her body, then back up. "As a dumb, horny teenage boy? Very likely."
"And now?"
"I'm not a teenager anymore."
"What about the dumb and horny part?"
"Some times more than others."
He was kind of funny. Which also surprised her. "How about now?"
"Feeling dumber by the second."
That definitely caused a stomach flip. "Funny, I'm feeling one of those things too."
"Yeah?"
"I'm always wound up after I perform."
"Wound up?"
"You know, wound up, energized, stimulated…"
"You get…stimulated…every time you sing?"
"I thank God for D batteries every night," she said without batting an eye. She didn't know how she was keeping her cool exactly but it was fun to see his pupils dilate and his lips part as he sucked in a quick breath.
"Is that right? You're so independent you don't even need someone for orgasms, huh?"
It shouldn't be that easy for him, but just the word orgasms from him and she was nearly panting. Unwilling to let him get away with teasing her like that—because she was going to be wishing for those batteries pretty quick—she said, "You get what you pay for with vibrators and I have high credit limit on all my cards."
"I'm okay with watching."
She cleared her throat before she could think about it. "Who said you're invited?"
"They only had one room open tonight."
That tripped her up. She hadn't even thought about that as a possibility. And there were complications far beyond her being able to use or not use her plastic BFF.
"I thought you were concerned about being in a hotel room with me tonight."
"I am." He sounded frustrated. "I thought we were going out so we'd be so tired we wouldn't be thinking of anything but sleep."
Yep. That had been the plan.
Of course, none of her plans had worked out for months so she wasn't sure why she'd thought this one would.
"You're not tired?"
"That's not the first word to register, no," he said.
The desire on his face was clear.
She was wound up from performing and he was clearly turned on by—whatever. There had been underlying currents all day.
Inevitable seemed to be the word registering for her.

When you live forever, you’re bound to make a few mistakes.
Children of Night, Book 1
1969 San Francisco. World-weary Conrad Quintano should have known better than to fall in love with a human—much less Suzanne Fischer, the barely legal, adventure-seeking hippie beauty known as Desert Rose. And the very last thing he should have agreed to do was to raise her babies and protect them with his life. But even twelve-hundred-year-old master vampires can find it hard to reject a deathbed request—especially when issues of love, guilt and blood are involved.
Present day. Raised in virtual isolation, twins Marc and Julie Fischer have always known they are vampires. But they never knew their parentage—or their unique status in the vampire world—until their “uncle” Damian comes to fetch them home. The family reunion, however, isn’t what they expect. They’re thrust into a world for which they’re totally unprepared. And the father they expected to see, Conrad, is missing.
How to find him…and whom to trust? Solving the mystery of betrayal and vampire family values will prove the Beatles had it right. All you need is love…and an occasional side of blood.
