Dawn: Hi Nick, thank you for taking some time outta your schedule to sit down with us and answer a few questions. I know that you are very busy and have one hell of a world tour that you are preparing for.
Nick: G’Day, Dawn. I’m more than happy to be here.
Dawn: There were rumors that this tour would never take place do you have anything to say about that?
Nick: I did kinda announce that, didn’t I? (laughs) Yeah, it wasn’t meant to take place, but you know, when the person who means more than anything in the world to you tells you you’ve got to do, you do it. That’s what loves about, isn’t it (grins)
Dawn: Your new songs are so raw and this new record strikes me as so personal. What or who has been your inspiration for this new album?
Nick: This new album started a while ago when I meet a couple at Bandicoot Cove Resort, up on Bilbly Island. I was there trying to regain some focus after a hell two years… (looks pensive). Anyways, I wrote the first song Tropical Sin while on the island and after that, the words to each new song just kept coming. And with every new song, I knew my heart was trying to tell me something. That the love I’d walked away from a lifetime ago…well, that I needed to find someone. Tell her what was in my heart. It just took a wedding invitation to actually kick my arse into gear to find her again.
Dawn: How long have you been playing? Where and how did you learn? Did you ever want to do anything different then play?
Nick:(laughs) I’ve been playing since I could hold a guitar. My mum bought me one when I was a little kid, my fourth birthday. I taught myself until Mum realized I was never going to give up and then she paid for lessons. When my dad was transferred to Murrindah…(laughs) a little town in the Australian highlands where no one played much of anything on a guitar except country music, playing that guitar was my link back to the city life I’d known. And then it was the way to one particular girl’s heart… Did I ever want to do anything else? (grins) For quite a few years I dreamed of playing soccer for Australia. Of course I wasn’t that good at it, but it was a brilliant dream.
Dawn: Can you tell us a little bit about the tour?
Dawn: Can you tell us a little bit about the tour?
Nick: It’s only a few cities around the world: Sydney, Perth, Auckland, New York, Denver, San Francisco, London, Dublin, Scotland, Paris and Berlin. Small, intimate settings. No more than two hundred seats each performance. No support act. Just me, my guitar and Peto on drums.
Dawn: Wow that’s some line-up!
Nick: Thanks. I still remember the first time I listened to Eric Clapton’s Unplugged album when I was in my twenties. Man, that acoustic sound…beautiful, simple and pure. Yeah, I loved that. Want to do something like that for this last hoorah. (laughs)
Dawn: Are you doing anything special to celebrate this amazing World Tour?
Dawn: Are you doing anything special to celebrate this amazing World Tour?
Nick: I am. I’d love to tell you what, but I promised someone special I wouldn’t. But let me just say it involves a top hat, my favourite jeans and a white dress (winks. Then laughs). Man, that gave it away, didn’t it.
Dawn: I’m a pretty big fan and know quite a bit about you what can you tell me about yourself that no one else would know – a secret, a love for a weird food or show, or anything that you think might interest me and the fans to learn about you. Oooh, something no one else would know?

Nick: Hmmm…okay, how’s this? I can play the theme to Star Wars with my armpit. Too much? Did I just kill the whole smoldering rock star image? (laughs) Sorry ‘bout that.
Dawn: (giggle) Thank goodness I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I'd say the "Rock Star" force is very strong with you

His music moves the world. Can his love move her heart?
Nick Blackthorne knows all about words of love. They’re the reason he’s the world’s biggest rock star. The irony? He turned his back on love a long time ago, lured away by the trappings of fame.
An invitation to a friend’s wedding is a stark reminder of how meaningless his life has become. When he enters that church, there’s only one woman he wants on his arm—the one he walked out on a lifetime ago. But first he has to find her, even if all she accepts from him is an apology.
Kindergarten teacher Lauren Robbins once had what every woman on the planet desires. Nick. Their passion was explosive, their romance the stuff of songs…and it took fifteen years to get over him. Then out of the blue Nick turns up at her door, and all those years denying her ache for him are shattered with a single, smoldering kiss.
But molten passion can’t hide the secret she’s kept for all these years. Because it’s not just her heart on the line anymore…and not just her life that’ll be rocked by the revelation.

Hello Nick. So after seeing your lineup I see you're not stopping at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun on the East Coast. I'll be in Denver at the end of June but with my luck, you won't so I'll not see you in concert,so sad I hear you are great!

Lexxie,
ReplyDeleteI adore your writing style. You are on my auto-buy list. Nick's story looks yummy. I must say that my interest was originally piqued by Olivia Cummings Sinners on Tour Books. Yours looks like another keeper to read and reread!
