BDSM Event

BDSM Event Opening Post

BDSM is everywhere at the moment and we thought we'd show that BDSM isn't just about sex or kink; its about two people mutually agreeing to exchange power in certain aspects of their lives. It isn't about gender inequality, perversion or anything sinister; its about choice and enjoyment for ALL those involved in the relationship, no matter how kinky. We want to show off some of our personal favorites, give you a chance to familiarize yourselves with some names and just generally show what BDSM is.
Over the course of this month we will be showcasing some very talented authors from this genre (including a few personal favorites!). They will be talking to us about some aspects of BDSM that appears in their books and, in some cases, their real lives. There is also a whole host of Giveaways too, just to give people a chance to experience some books from this genre!
From the 2nd-20th August, we will also be hosting a blog hop of over 30 other Blogs....there is more giveaways and a Grand Prize of a $30 Gift Card to a retailer of your choice. We hope you'll hop along with us!

I am a huge BDSM fan and when Nix asked me to be part of this I was very excited. My normal "go to" reading is BDSM and I read a lot of it. I'm sure there are others out there like me that love this genre and have come across some amazing works as well as some that... needs lots of help.
I have read most of the authors featured in this hop and Love them all - some I would even beg for :) Anyway... back on track Dawn...
Giveaway - this was hard, I had so many great books in mind and as I went down the list of authors I realized so many of them were being featured already, so I dug through my books and found one book that I really tugged at my heart and I have recommended several times over - Cardinal's Rule by Tymber Dalton.
I think I was recommended this book from Amazon as an "I might like this" book and I said sure sounded good. Well since reading this book I have read a ton more of her and am very happy I listened to the recommendation.

Cardinal's RuleIn her world, there’s only one rule: Cardinal’s Rule.

Tilly Cardinal’s world ended when her Master, Cristo, abandoned her, disappearing with no explanation other than a short, cryptic note releasing her as his slave. Five years later she’s Mistress Cardinal, a vicious and successful pro Domme charging big bucks to dish out whatever abuse men will pay to take. Materially she has all she wants, but she’s never felt more alone.

In walks Landry LaCroux, a handsome, rich man with a proposition: he wants Tilly to train his slave. Landry holds the key to Tilly’s past, and her future. She’s shocked to discover Landry’s slave is her very own former Master, Cris.

Unfortunately, Landry has a secret - he has cancer and wants to make Tilly a deal. Marry him and nurse him through his recovery, and he’ll pay her handsomely. As a bonus, she can abuse his slave in whatever way she sees fit to make up for the pain she’s suffered. Love wasn’t supposed to be part of the bargain, but as the three of them move in together, can they all find healing and a lasting happiness under Cardinal’s Rule?

Contains whips, floggers, laughter, tears, a snarky French Dom, paint-peeling hot sex, and fun through forgiveness.

Content Warning: Contains subject matter that might offend some readers - graphic language, explicit sex, mf sex, mmf ménage, mm sex, anal sex/play, sex toys, Femdom and Maledom BDSM practices, bondage, Domination/submission, Master/slave, spanking, impact play, humiliation, cuckolding, public exhibition, public sex, and piercing sarcasm

I mean come on how do you say no to a content warning like that!! lol but seriously this is a great book I laughed, cried, and recommended this over and over.

  1. I haven't read too many yet, so I haven't come across any limits. I have read one of Tymber's and it was great.

  2. I don't know if I have any limits when it comes to BDSM reading. I've read quite a bit and I love it all. Don't know that I'd actually want to act on many of these things, but I do love to read about it.

  3. I guess when I think of a "limit" the only thing that comes to mind is humiliation, it's not a theme in a lot of books but it bugs me to read about it, I think it probably has to do with personal issues :O) thanks

  4. I think the limit might depend on the characters. I try to lose myself in a story and leave it up to the characters to tell it. I'm fairly new to the genre so if there is a limit I have yet to have one.

  5. I live and love BDSM. I don't enjoy reading about scat play and never read anything with underage, but other than that, it's good. In fact, I have more issues with people thinking a love pat on the butt is BDSM than I do with harder limits. I do prefer HFN or HEA endings.

  6. limit for me is when it becomes more about humiliation than sensualism.

  7. I haven't read a BDSM book that hit a hard limit for me yet. I can't say that I have read tons.

  8. I am still new to reading BDSM stories, so I am not sure what my limit is. I have not read any stories that have pushed me yet. Most likely if the author put it in the story, it should be there, so I will just have to keep reading and see. ;)
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.
