Guest Post with Lissa Matthews PLUS a Contest!

Today I'm happy to have Lissa Matthews guest blogging with us. Lissa has been a very busy lady this year and has had several books released with more to come before the end of the year. Do you like male/male romance? Looking for something new well check out what Lissa Matthews has to offer....

Fascination

I find it fascinating when a man, strong, capable, and sure can let go and surrender himself to another man. His strength isn't diminished in our eyes but rather enhanced. He becomes more human, more capable even because he can break the barriers and fall in love with someone he might not have expected to feel anything for, regardless of right or wrong in the eyes of family or society.

That's something I love about m/m romance. He can be all these things. He can be hardened. Wizened. Full of mental and emotional walls. But when he gives himself over, opens up and melts into his lover... I'm truly held captive and honestly, turned the hell on. I crave that intense connection.

What gay men have to go through and even gay women, transgender individuals as well, just to gain the least little bit of respect... I admire these men and women a great deal. That we as writers can use our words and voices to bring positive attention to them, I'm proud to write M/M romance alongside the M/F romance I write.

For those of you who read a lot of male/male romance, what draws you to it? I asked this question on my own blog a few weeks ago during the GLBT Madness Hop but I'm asking you here to answer it... What draws you? What pulls you in and holds you captivated?

Now, of course part of reason for this blog tour is to promote myself. I have 3 titles coming out between October 23rd and the end of the year. The first one is a male menage from Loose Id titled Double Up. I'm still waiting on a cover, but you can read a little about it...

Double Up

Jared and Bryson started their life together by leaving their childhood homes to make their way west. Ending up in a small community near Livingston, Montana, with a small horse ranch, life is just about perfect for the two men until Jared gives Walt, a Native American drifter and horse trainer, a ride.

Sparks fly in the truck cab and when Jared gets him home, Walt finds himself caught between two hot-blooded cowboys, a place he never expected to be and one he doesn’t want to leave. Their idyllic ménage of love and lust hits the skids though when Jared experiences jealousy and fear. He issues an ultimatum to Bryson and Walt...either they leave, or he will.

Hoping Jared will come to his senses with time and space, Bryson and Walt wait. But after three months, Jared hasn’t budged. On his birthday, Bryson and Walt steal into the house they all once shared and wake him with a kiss, a grope, a thrust of hard bodies, and a birthday spanking he will never forget.

Will Jared be able to conquer his doubts and insecurities, or will he lose the only two people who will fight to keep him?

The second one is a M/M romance coming out November 6th from Samhain Publishing. It's the first in a new series that I am in love with called The Bar Next Door. The book is titled Malachi's Word...

Malachi's WordDrunken confessions. Sobering friendship. And two cowboys gambling on love...

The Bar Next Door, Book 1

Could he love me? Malachi has wanted to know the answer since his best friend, Daniel, confessed to being gay. He has never forgotten that long-ago conversation, or the secret hope that another confession would follow: that Daniel is in love with him.

Daniel is—and always has been—in love with Malachi. But how is he supposed to share that information without risking the only friendship that has ever mattered to him? He couldn’t handle it if he were kicked out of Malachi's life. The best Daniel could do was move home to Texas, buy a little rundown ranch to work outside Austin, and visit the watering hole where Malachi tends bar.

Malachi knows that something heavy is riding his friend and he’s tired of watching Daniel’s downward spiral of too much beer and too many meaningless flings. Enough is enough.

Except, when he gets Daniel home and some strong coffee down his gullet, the truth comes pouring out. A truth that nearly knocks Malachi out of his boots.

Courage like that doesn’t come easy…and Malachi can only pray his answer is enough to turn lifelong friends into forever lovers.

Warning: This little tale tries to contain a gay bar, a lot of beer, a hot cowboy with a pitchfork, another one with a serious addiction to boots and coffee, and a secret yearning between the two for hot blooded, can’t wait to get naked, just leave your boots on sex. Oh, and there are doughnuts...

The third book is titled More Than This and so far there's no further information on it yet. :-( Needless to say though, writing M/M has become a very strong passion of mine.

I hope you'll pick both of these up and give my men a shot. For one lucky reader who comments and answers my questions from above, I'll be giving away a copy of Double Up or Malachi's Word (when they become available) and a copy of one other GLBT ebook of your choice. (winner will be chosen 10/30)

Thank you for having me and letting me share a bit of my love for M/M romance. If you wish to find out more about me, please visit me in one or all of the following places:

  2. For me it's the strength of two men falling in love. :)I love when they open up to each other and fall in love. Though a big part of it is two hot men. lol

  3. For me, the attratction to m/m romance is that fact that it feels more emotional, more "real" in a way. It is really hard to describe, but when you get to see that really deep emotional connection - there is nothing better.

I CAN'T WAIT for these books!!!!!!! (sorry for yelling! LOL) I am SO looking forward to reading them. :)

  5. Lissa, as you know, I am EAGERLY looking forward to these two books.
I find that I tend to "connect" more w/the characters & the story in M/M romances than with most M/F romances.

  6. What draws me to m/m stories is the strength of both heros and how they show their emotions and vulnerability to each other.

  7. I love the emotional connection of the characters. Also, I love men, so 2 or more men just make it better and m/m is just HAWT!!!

  8. You know, we should all get together and compare M/M books...LOL. I'm very picky about mine. I want strong, hot, fierce and fiery men. I want them full of passion and even a bit in need of being clocked in the jaw or tossed over a shoulder and hauled off... I want them to be MEN! And the romance hero kind of men. There is something wonderful about exploring with these males their belligerent sides and their tender in need of love sides...

  10. For me, it's the romance and seeing the walls of manly men crumble so they can have their HEA.
