Jessica Scott Giveaway

Thanks so much to Dawn for having me here today! I’ve been slammed lately trying to get my next book UNTIL THERE WAS YOU ready to go and it’s FINALLY moved to a point where I’m happy with it.

Because of You (Coming Home #1)Contemporary Military Romance
From the war-torn streets of Baghdad to the bittersweet comforts of the home front, two wounded hearts navigate the battlefield of coming home from war in this explosive eBook original from newcomer Jessica Scott.

Keeping his men alive is all that matters to Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison. But meeting Jen St. James the night before his latest deployment makes Shane wonder if there’s more to life than war. He leaves for Iraq remembering a single kiss with a woman he’ll never see again—until a near fatal attack lands him back at home and in her care.

Jen has survived her own brush with death and endured its scars. And yet there’s a fire in Shane that makes Jen forget all about her past. He may be her patient, but when this warrior looks her in the eyes, she feels—for the first time in a long time—like a woman. Shane is too proud to ask for help, but for Jen, caring for him is more than a duty—it’s a need. And as Jen guides Shane through the fires of healing, she finds something she never expected—her deepest desire.

My first book took me almost five years to sell. My second book took me almost 8 months to write and over the course of that time, I’ve been on active duty in the Army serving as a company commander. People often ask me if I sleep and yes, I do sleep. But I developed a nasty case of insomnia while I was deployed to Iraq and I’ve never really slept right since. So I figure rather than mope about being tired, I might as well use the time wisely.

Until There Was You is my second Coming Home novel. You don’t have to have read the first book to read the second. It’s almost as though I started two separate series with the two different books, which was quite accidental, believe me. It’s the story of two army captains: Evan Loehr and Claire Montoya, who both have a ton of emotional issues to work through. I write pretty angst filled stuff so it’s not a light and fluffy story, that’s for sure. The first book Because of You is about a wounded soldier and a breast cancer survivor. No light and fluffy there!

So much of my life has been touched by Iraq and the wars. I wanted to write stories about regular soldiers who still served and try to reach out to readers to help just tell our stories. I hope readers will enjoy Until There Was You because I really learned so much while writing it. It’s a tough story but there’s some really, ah, interesting humor interspersed. And the epilogue alone is so worth the entire read. I think it might be most favorite epilogue ever. There is talk of hot wax and shaving…I laugh every time I read it!

Thanks so much to Dawn for having me here today! I’m giving away a copy of BECAUSE OF YOU to one lucky commenter! Winner will be chosen on 7/21.

  1. Hi Jessica! These two books sound so good and are on my TBR list now. I love reading stories about military men and what intrigues me is how brave and in control they are when jumping into action to protect people. Thanks for giveaway and will be looking forward to reading these two books whether I win or not.

  2. Your books sound great and I would love to read them. We need more books, more press, more billboards reminding citizens that the military is there 24/7.

  7. I think the fact that they risk all to protect others is a huge turn on! The uniforms might have something to do with it as well. LOL

  8. What intrigues me is that they are essentially 2 people. On one hand, when they are in the field, they have to turn off their emotions and just use their instincts, brains or training. On the other, they want to be loved, needed, cared for, to be accepted and they want families. At least that is my opinion anyway. I really did not appreciate how much they have to change until I saw my brother go through it. It definitely makes them stronger! Thank you for serving, Jessica! I and my family truly appreciate each and every soldier! Hopefully, you will get your next book worked out and get some good sleep. ;)
This story sounds like a wonderful read and it's already on my TBR. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
