Robin Covington Interview + Giveaway

Do you know Robin Covington?

Let me introduce you...

On her fortieth birthday, Robin Covington decided that having a mid-life crisis and finding a boy-toy were far too tacky, so she delved a little deeper into the “bucket list” and pulled out the long-shelved dream of becoming an author. Now, she spends her time writing sizzling romance where the hero and heroine can’t keep their hands off each other.
She doesn’t miss the boy-toy at all.
Happily exploring the theme of fooling around and falling in love, her stories burn up the sheets . . . one page at a time.

Her debut novel, A NIGHT OF SOUTHERN COMFORT, will soon be released by the Indulgence Line at Entangled Publishing.
Robin is a member of the Romance Writers of America, the Washington Romance Writers, a faculty member at Romance University, a member of the Waterworld Mermaids, and a guest contributor to the Happy Ever After blog at USA Today.
Robin lives in Maryland with her hilarious husband, brilliant children, and ginormous puppy.

and now onto the interview...

Q: What is your normal day like?
Oh, wow. With two small kids and an evil day job, my day starts early. I’m up at 5 am to workout and then I get the kids up at 6:30. After work, we have dinner together as a family, I spend some time with the Main Man and then I retreat to my writing cave for a few hours. I usually hit the bed about midnight or 1 am. I don’t need a lot of sleep – thank goodness!
 * I so understand the no sleep part as I never sleep either!

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
I sing in a band and we rehearse once per week. I like to scrapbook and I’m a comic book geek.

Q: What writing habit of yours would readers find most bizarre?
Hmmm . . . I write in a closet. My writing cave is last 7 feet of my 19 foot long closet and I go in there and work my magic. ; ) It’s quiet and my wifi is wonky in there so I have few distractions.
* LOL, brings a different meaning to "in the closet"

Q: Do you have a favorite line or moment from your book? (excerpt or line)
I love a scene where Jackson and Michaela are in bed together, enjoying the afterglow and getting to know each other . . . . Jackson is just so yummy.

She continued to grin at him. “What’s your favorite color?”
He answered without thinking. “Blue.” Jackson stared into eyes that were the color of the ocean when she was happy, as dark as midnight when she was aroused, and the color of rain when she was unhappy. “My favorite color is blue.”

Q: Would you say there is an element of you in the characters you write?
Of course, I think my characters have a little bit of me but I also think they have a little bit of what I would like to be, things I would want to do or experience. I get to live vicariously through my characters.

Q: Do you have your family or friends read a manuscript first, to see if they like it?
The Main Man reads my books when they are complete and he checks for typos etc but he doesn’t say much about the writing craft stuff. I have a couple of critique partners and they read chapters as they are completed and they offer an in depth commentary from a craft perspective.

Q: What's the weirdest/funniest assumption people make about you?
That all of the sex in my book is from my real-life. I’m quite pleased with my love-life *grin* but this is a work of fiction. I have a great imagination . . . and internet porn . . . *did I say that out loud?*

*umm yeah you said it and I love it! So internet porn in the closet, huh? I'm liking you -lol.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that no one knows.
I have always wanted to be a redhead.
*ME TOO!

Q:Describe your book Twitter style : 140 Characters or less
One Night Stand. Can it be more? Just say yes. When you allow yourself to want it all, you might just get it.

A Night of Southern Comfort

One night of passion...

Detective Jackson Cantrell never imagined that one night with an irresistible stranger would turn his life upside down. He’s spent years living in the shadows, but Dr. Michaela Roarke awakened a passion inside him he'd buried years ago.

He never expected the woman would turn out to be the governor's daughter...and his next assignment. The governor blackmails Jackson to secretly watch over Michaela and protect her from a stalker, or kiss his dream job at the FBI good-bye. Swearing to keep things strictly professional, Jackson moves in with Michaela. Too bad his heart can't keep the same promise.

But when the stalker's attacks quickly escalate beyond mere photographs to bodily harm, Jackson must race to save Michaela's life. And he’ll have to figure out how to keep her once she discovers his lie.

Q: Is there anything you would like your readers to come away with after reading your book?
I want my readers to wish that Elliott, VA, the Southern Comfort Diner and the characters in my book were real. These are people you’d love to have a beer with.

Q: Is this book part of a series? If so when can we expect the next book? Can you share a bit with us?
That is the plan, although this book is a standalone. I am currently writing the book proposal for Books 2-4 of this series – I call it ‘The Boys are Back in Town” series. Each of the four men featured in this book get their own story. Fingers crossed that my editor likes it!

Now for a lil' quickie -
