Review – Shayla’s Story – Beverly Preston
I fell in love with both Shayla and John in the first book of the Clemmins/Matthews series, No More Wasted Time. Trust me when I say this book was not a letdown, in fact, it was the exact opposite and well worth the wait. I was drawn into Shayla’s dilemma immediately. I loved the journey I took with them as their relationship blossomed and as she faced making her life-altering decision.
Shay is a no nonsense woman, completely grounded and in control, though she’s blindsided by her current boyfriend’s marital proposal. The trip to Greece for her uncle’s upcoming wedding to Tess is the perfect escape she needs, giving her the time to think things through. But how clearly can she really think when she’s faced with a hunk of a man well beyond his years in maturity and sexy as all get-out? He’s the perfect fitting piece to the puzzle that is her life. The buildup to the HEA kept me turning pages. This is one of those books that you can’t wait to see how things turn out, yet never want to finish because it’s just that good.
You can easily read this without reading the first in the series, as Ms. Preston fills in the gaps masterfully, but I highly suggest you read No More Wasted Time first if you haven’t already, as it’s a truly wonderful story as well.
Beware: This book demands attention, calls to you once you set it down... Laundry and dishes will stack up and you may have a few nights of take-out dinner because everything else in life becomes less important while you’re sucked into Shayla and John’s world.
