Eve Berlin’s Temptation’s Edge is a gripping, sexy and tantalizing tale.  Masterfully written, drawing you in from the first page—delving beyond just sexuality and into the deeper psychological dynamics of BDSM.

If you’re a veteran reader of BDSM or if you haven’t had your fancy tickled by this genre…either way, Temptation’s Edge is a must read.  Ms. Berlin has such a beautiful way of easing even the most virgin reader of BDSM into a subject that has until recent years been whispered about in hushed tones; the taboo, the unspoken, and sometimes the most misunderstood of sexual practices. 

Connor Galloway is a sexy Irishman with a brogue to boot who is a self-employed Seattle based artist.  Mischa Kennon is a tattoo artist and shop owner from San Francisco who travels to Seattle for a few weeks to help her best friend with her wedding plans, as well as to branch out by opening a second tattoo shop.  Connor and Mischa are both very independent, confident, and yet vulnerable. Their bone-deep, instantaneous attraction is felt at a primal level from the first moment when they lock gazes at a party to celebrate their mutual friends’ upcoming wedding.  Little did either know their lives were about to spin one-eighty after the intense sex ensues.  Both have convinced themselves that this is going to be a fun two-week fling and when the two weeks are up it will be life as usual.  Let’s just say that they’re both asses for assuming and are in for a rude awakening, as it will never again be life as usual now that the flames have been ignited. 

Mischa has dabbled in BDSM before but none of the past doms can hold a flame to Connor; he has a definite command presence, he exudes dom-ness from every pore. This presence is not just in the bedroom or while on their scintillating outings to the Pleasure Dome—it’s not just an act—it’s ingrained in his very being.  For Mischa, giving up control to Connor freaks her out but at the same time she knows she likes it and these conflicting emotions are enough to send her into a tailspin.  Both have been non-committal in the past when it comes to relationships and, frankly, how could they not be when Mischa’s mom and Connor’s dad were up for the Least Likely Role Model award.

Eve Berlin knocked it out of the field on this one.  To sum it all up in one word … Bravo – everyone stand up and clap so she can take a bow!  I am fairly new to this genre, thanks to my smut peddler, Daydrmzzz, and let’s just say that I wish Pleasure’s Edge was the first BDSM book I ever picked up.  Sure - I’ve read books entailing the sexual aspects of BDSM; spanking, nipple tweakage (yes, I know that’s not a real word, it’s a Lola-ism), but Eve Belrin has written this book in a way that also explains the psychological aspect of domination and submission to the reader.

Dylan Ivory is a novelist who wants to write a novel about BDSM.  Even after extensive referencing, Dylan is not eluding herself to the fact that she knows enough about the subject to be accurate.  At the suggestion of an Internet acquaintance she arranges a meeting with Alec Walker.  Not only is Alec Walker a dark haired, tattooed, hunk of take-me-right-here-right-now, he happens to be a Dom that can assist her with "hands-on” research of the subject.  This experience takes both Dylan and Alec on a journey of trust, letting go of the past, and learning how to love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the very first page.  I enthusiastically recommend that all other readers who crave something smutcalicious put this on their “TO-READ” shelf.  In fact, if you happen to have one, put it on your “WHAT-THE-HELL-ARE-YOU-WAITING-FOR?-READ-IT-RIGHT-NOW!” shelf. Thanks to Eve Berlin, I now understand why I am letting my husband spank me - LOL.  After reading Pleasure’s Edge, you will be every bit as anxious as I am for the upcoming release of Desire’s Edge on September 6, 2011 from Berkley Trade.  If you are interested in other works by her, she also writes under the pen-name Eden Bradley.
