Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment is a heartbroken shadow of the vampire leader he once was. Brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel, he fights again with ruthless vengeance- and is unprepared for a new tragedy. Seeing his beloved in dreams—trapped in a cold, desolate netherworld—he turns to the angel to save his former mate, only to despair at the path he himself must take to set her free. As war with the lessers rages, and a new clan of vampires vies for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between an unforgettable past, and a future that he doesn’t know he can live with… but can’t seem to turn away from.
Okay—to start this review off, let me say that last year when I heard that Ms. JR Ward announced she was going to do her next story on Tohrment, I wasn't too excited. I mean don't get me wrong…I love me my BDB, but Tohr was Wellsie's and that was over so now he needed to grieve and then come back and be a great warrior and/or care for John. To be honest, he has been out of the books for a few and I wasn't missing much of him either.
I am so happy to say that I loved this story, Lover Reborn. This story story wasn't only about Tohrment and his journey through grief, to realization that there is more. We also get more of John Mathew and Xhex’s new marriage blues - ahh that first year of marriage isn't always easy now, is it? We learn more about No'One's (Xhex's mom) story and what she has gone through - this poor woman has been through hell and back - literally.
Then we get the ever comical smart-ass Angel we all love, Lassister. This angel loves to get people riled up but now he isn't just playing around, he needs to complete his mission with Tohr, but damn if he knows completely what that mission fully is or if he can get Tohr to listen. Once he finally gets Tohr to listen and see things, he begins to understand and starts to heal little by little.
While I love the men of BDB, Lover Reborn gives a deeper look into the BOB (Band of Bastards) and what they are up to. At first I wasn't too interested in them but the way this story has been spinning, I see so many possibilities for upcoming stories. There is a great war struggle brewing as well as a battle of hearts and wills - I think or hope ;)
So, all-in-all, I'd have to say I enjoyed this book immensely, even when I did not think I would - so even more the better! I'm a huge believer that series books shouldn't go over 10 books because I feel they get boring or just repeat the same thing. Well…Ms. JR Ward has made me eat those words. I am even more excited for the next book, which I hear is Blaylock and Qhuinn's story (it's about damn time in my opinion).
Be warned once you get past the halfway mark...Get those tissue ready!! I cried like a baby and smiled like a fool at the end. Great book, it's a must read for any BDB lover ;)

PS - When I went to RT 2012, JR Ward just so happened to be conducting a panel and of course I was there panting like all the other fans. Let me tell you by the time the panel was over I was crying my eyes out! Why you ask??? If you don't want to know stop here and go no further......
Okay...to start off, have you wondered about Butch and V ? Their relationship? Well it is a relationship she says and she was asked if they ever get it on and her answer was "they get it on all the time" but sadly she also said that she won't write that into the book.
Then she was asked about Blay, Qhuinn, and Layla. We all want to know if she is gonna stick to her guns and give the boys their well deserved book and if she is going to be the daring author that is going to write a big name author Male/Male book... YES SHE IS!! Layla is not going to be a romantic partner—she will be very important—but this next book will be all about the boys and their love!! She did give specifics, but I just can't do it, you need to read it…something this special needs to be kept secret.
There is so much more to come with the BOB and BDB—remember the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"—well, that's your clue :)
Enjoy reading!!
