Undone Rebel reviewed by Kat

Undone Rebel (Undone Lovers # 1) Book one in the Undone Lovers series.

When amateur fetish model and rockabilly princess Adelita “Addie” Sanchez is asked to model for an instructional BDSM book, she turns the offer down—she’s not a porn star. Then she meets the three male Dominants behind the project, including Lane Therres, who convinces her the book is more art than porn, and she’ll be safe in his hands.

The rules of the photo sessions are clear—there’s no sex, and Addie can call a halt to anything she’s uncomfortable with. But self-reliant, strong-willed Addie doesn’t count on liking what the powerful Doms do to her body with their ropes, chains and toys. Enjoying Emory’s touch after falling for Lane, Addie turns away from both men, scared of what they’re making her feel. She’s worried that a relationship built on a BDSM contract can never be anything but whips and chains.

Lane will exchange Dom leather for shining armor to prove to his rockabilly princess that even the most gallant knights sometimes prefer dungeons.

 Review~

Ok… Dawn asked me to review Lila Dubois’ Undone Rebel series and I said “Sure” cause I met Lila at the Romantic Times Book Convention and she’s adorable and the book covers in this series are right up my alley. The heroines are into pinup and rockabilly and the beautiful covers reflect the flirty femininity of the girls. Soooo, even though I don’t read much BDSM…. Dawn! Stop laughing at me! *pause*  Bite Me! On second thought, ignore that- cause she probably would.
Well, I read Undone Rebel in one evening. And right away I wanted to be friends with Addie. She’s a seamstress and designs rockabilly clothes. She wears pinup dresses! She has vintage lingerie…. She’s a powerful, sexy woman and she loves to dress in the flirty pinup style. Oh. And she also fixes cars. Addie Rocks!
Addie has done a bit of modeling, some of it for Lulu L’amore, the store she works at, and some photos for a lingerie line. Those are the shots that bring her to the attention of a company that is putting together a coffee table art book on BDSM. There are three Doms who have written the text and now they need a female model that is NOT familiar with BDSM so they can introduce her to it and capture her reactions on film. She gives it a lot of thought. Her friend, Lulu, calls it a visitor’s pass to kinky sex land! Addie decides to try it, with an explicit contract breaking down the rules. ie. there would not be actual intercourse during the photo shoot, everything up to it. But it would be for ART.
She arrives on set and Lane is the first of the three Doms who are scheduled to have a session with her. Lane became a Dom because he loves women and wanted to learn how they think and what pleases them. He works a normal job and keeps the BDSM to bedroom play. He is very attracted to Addie and sees the submissive possibilities in her. I enjoyed the dynamic between them and their humor and chemistry.
Soooo, *blush* She does her first photo session with Lane and its very steamy and HOT. One thing that got me though was Lane cuts off her pretty lingerie! I was all, Oh! NOOO! Not the lingerie! Lol But she learns not to wear anything irreplaceable to future sessions. :p
For me, this story was a good introduction to BDSM. I was on the same journey as Addie when Lane was introducing her to what is involved. He teaches her about a Dom’s responsibility to his submissive, the trust involved and the pleasure experienced. He tells Addie he’s not looking for love.  For Addie, love conquers all. This was reassuring to me. I need heart with my steam! It was fun to see the relationship that develops with Lane and love to sneak up on him. I was surprised that I did actually like the book. Some of it was a bit uncomfortable for me, but Lila did a very good job introducing Addie, and me as a newbie, to the BDSM lifestyle and the power and emotions involved and watching Addie accept that submission was one of her turn-on’s was empowering. At its core, Undone Rebel is a romance. Yep, there’s (to me) kinky sex, but there’s love and emotion and lots of heart and I loved Addie and Lane and I enjoyed their journey.
