A quickie with Karen Booth

Welcome Karen and thank you for taking the time to sit and chat with us about your book. First I wanted to say thank you to Kat fromThe Book Tart for introducing us, isn’t she just the sweetest thing.

Once chatting with you I researched some of your books and wow, those are some great covers. They look very hot, I can’t wait to get my hands on them.
So today we are going to do a speed round of questions. I like to call it my quickie, I mean come on now a quickie is good every now and then.

about us image I'm Karen--mom, wife, writer, former music biz girl. I write women's fiction and romance. It's the ideal pursuit if you want to sleep less, drive your spouse crazy and neglect your children, but still have something to show for it. My blog is about music, books, and writing. Did I mention music?

25 quickie facts about Karen Booth:

1.     Desktop, laptop, or tablet? Laptop. I can get restless when I write. Being able to move to another locale usually cures that.
2.     Favorite color? Blue. More specifically, any shade of aqua.
3.     Favorite author? This is really tough because I like to read many different genres. Curtis Sittenfeld for her head scratching characters, Lynda Barry for her painfully poignant moments, and Celia Rivenbark for making me fall out of a chair with laughter. That’s the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
4.     Last book you read? I just started reading “How To Be a Woman” by Caitlan Moran.
5.     Favorite drink?  Jack & Ginger. I just assumed we were talking cocktails.
6.     If you were a candy bar, what would you be?  Salted Nut Roll.
Dawn: LOL, this answer alone could get 25 questions.
7.     Last place you traveled? Port Austin, MI. My husband’s family has a cottage on Lake Huron and we go there every summer. It’s beautiful, but rustic. I’m ready for real plumbing when we get home from that trip.
8.     Favorite genre to read/write? I love to get lost in great fiction, but I often find myself drawn to biographies, historical books, and books about music. Everything I write is a little cross-genre, a mix of women’s fiction and romance. Mostly I write about relationships.
9.     Favorite food? Peas. Is that weird?
Dawn: I always ask for no peas, so for me ewww-lol.
10. Print or Ebook? Ebook and yes, I know that’s so not-PC of me, but I love being able to toss my Kindle in my bag and not worry about what I want to read. I don’t get attached to the paper. I get attached to the words.
Dawn: I love the way you put it and I agree I'm an E-junkie.
11. Favorite Holiday? Thanksgiving. No gifts to buy, just a day with family and a big meal. Can’t think of anything better than that. Although I like the anticipation and excitement of Christmas, actual Christmas takes too much work.
12. Plotter or pantser? Total pantser. I wish I could be a plotter, but I don’t have the patience.
13.  Any Hobbies? Lots! I love to cook, garden, sew, dance, watch college basketball and do artsy-craftsy stuff with my kids.
14. Dream vacation? Beach, crystal-clear water, kids are at home with Grandma, ridiculously handsome shirtless man to bring me cocktails as I lounge and read (in my dream, my husband will be totally fine with this scenario), no alarm clock, no wi-fi, sex followed by a nap every afternoon.
15.  Favorite TV show/movie? My favorite movie of all time is Sixteen Candles. John Hughes was a genius and the world was lucky to have him if even for a short time. My favorite TV show of all time is Six Feet Under. I mourned that show when it was gone, which only seems right given the subject matter.
Dawn: I LOVE John Hughes too and just watch 16 Candles last night with the hubs!
16.  Ice cream flavor? Mint chocolate chip, but I can’t think of a single ice cream flavor I would turn down if you put it in front of me.
17. Favorite Music/Song? I am a huge music fan, so this is nearly impossible. How about the last ten artists I listened to? The Rolling Stones, Tokyo Police Club, The Roots, Edsel, Stevie Wonder, Ornette Coleman, Duran Duran, Spoon, Benji Hughes, Macy Gray.
18.  What’s one thing no one would believe about you? I was painfully shy as a kid. Painfully. I didn’t really come out of my shell until my sophomore year of high school.
19.  Biggest pet peeve? Close-mindedness. The world goes nowhere when people are like this. Makes me nuts.
20.  Naughtiest thing you have done for research? I think this would come down to most regrettable Google searches. Do not Google “sex with a broken leg” unless you have an artificial limb fetish.
21.  Favorite Superhero? Batman. He’s sexy.
22.  Spicy or bland?  Spicy all the way.
23.  Cats or dogs?  Cats. I like dogs, but they’re too high-maintenance. One thing I appreciate about dogs is their willingness to clean the kitchen floor for you.
24.  Favorite flower? Tulips, preferably purple.
25.  Favorite guiltiest pleasure? I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. If you enjoy something, don’t feel guilty.

Summarize your book Twitter style – 140 characters or less:
Allie hooks up with super hot younger guy Cooper. They think it’ll be a fling, but when things become tangled, they’re playing for keeps.
Thanks so much Karen for the quickie it's always nice to learn some personal things about authors.
FOR KEEPS by Karen Booth
For KeepsBy day, Allie Flynn runs her ad agency with singular determination. By night, she retreats to her empty apartment, longing for another hallway encounter with Cooper, the absurdly hot guy in 3B.

Software entrepreneur Cooper Hale doesn’t have time to stock his fridge but he’ll sure as hell stop to smell the roses—he takes every eyeful he can get of criminally sexy Allie from downstairs.

During a neighborly dinner, Cooper decides to finally make a move on Allie, setting off sparks in the kitchen that ignite a wildfire in the bedroom. Allie’s grateful the twenty-eight-year-old hunk has the guts to seduce a woman twelve years his senior, but she’s stunned when he suggests they get tangled in the sheets again and again.

Casual becomes complicated as Cooper grapples with powerful feelings for Allie and she worries that he will eventually want someone younger. When he pulls a jealous stunt, she sees the inevitable end, but she’s about to learn that love, not age, changes the game when you’re playing for keeps.
